Dr. Michael A. Mullens, PE

Dr. Mullens serves as Principal of the Housing Constructability Lab. He received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University and MS and Ph.D. from Georgia Tech. Prior to assuming this position, he served over 10 years as a management consultant, primarily with Coopers & Lybrand, specializing in manufacturing, warehousing, and material handling. More recently, Dr. Mullens served over 17 years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida. His academic research focused on introducing advanced manufacturing technologies into the homebuilding industry.  He has worked extensively in panelized, modular, HUD Code and site built homebuilding. After retiring from UCF in 2007, Dr. Mullens continues to serve homebuilders through the Housing Constructability Lab. He has recently served as President of the National Consortium of Housing Research Centers and as Continuing Education Director of the IIE Construction Division.
